Look above you and consider your cornice choices

Today it was brought to my attention that there are several choices in cornices that you can get. And this was something that EBH didn't even mention to us, when you're busy thinking about colours and kitchens and other upgrades its easy to forget to look above and consider cornice choices. They can change the whole look of a room. Had i been told about the choices available i would of gone with the Trio Cornice for my living areas.

I think it makes a room look really finished off, like that extra mile has been taken to make the house a beautiful well presented dwelling and not to skimp on the attention to detail.

Fellow forum members had brought this to my attention, its a shame Eden Brae couldn't. And now its too late to change.

So i wanted to write this post tonight so that future Drysdale or EBH builders will know whats available, and perhaps are given the opportunity to request a different cornice.

The upgrade Lifestyle Package we paid for included the Symphony 75 cornice in the living areas, and the standard plain Cove cornice 55 to the bedrooms, Portico, Garage and Alfresco

The other one i have seen looking amazing in some EBH builds ins the Trio Cornice.

Brickwork Completed - Well almost

Brickwork is pretty much done! If you count a few extra bricks to finish a pylong and then the brick clean and site clean!

It looks A-MAZ-ING! So happy with it! We can now see our beautiful home right before our very eyes. The bricks are stunning! LOVE the off White Mortar and Ironed finish!

Yay for MOCHA! and all in standard range too! Even better to love something that doesn't mean we had to pay for an upgrade like everything else we wanted.

If i calculate the amount of working days they took to build. Starting from the 18th December there were 10 official working days and the Bricklayers worked (from what we could see) for 8 Days to brick the house. I guess tomorrow will be clean up and then they still need to clean the brickwork too! If we think it looks HOT now imagine once the clean is done how good she will look.

Now its looking like a house - Bricks, Bricks, so many Bricks

Brickwork Started on the 18th December.

The rear wall on Bedroom 4. Not much was done, but it was something! And something we could actually view to see what the mocha brick we had chosen looks like.

Just to re-cap - when you go to PGH Bricks the wall that you choose from isn't very big, and it looks different depending on the time of day you go. We did a drive by some homes that were built with mocha to give us an idea. But for a standard Brick in the standard range we are loving what we see.

A beautiful earthy colour that should stay quite neutral for the years to come.

18th December - Day 1 | Bed 4

9th January - Day 3 | WIR & Ensuite started

9th January - Day 3 | Home Theatre, Bed 2-4 completed
The different times of the day makes the brick look very red in some photos. Its a beautiful blend of brown with some red coloured bricks thrown in the mix.

10th January - Day 4  | Garage started

10th January - Day 4 | Front view of Garage

10th January - Day 4 | Living and Dining Room started
Didn't notice any work over the weekend!

13th January - Day 5 (No Photos)
Everything was completed except the front portico and 3 main bedroom windows.

Im having withdrawals not seeing our house today! It took all my willpower to not drive up there after dinner tonight. Hopefully that just means we will get more of a surprise if we head up tomorrow to check it out.

These guys are powering through! They should be finished by the end of the week and the gutters and fascia are set to arrive on Monday to be installed and ready for the roof.

I can officially say "we will be living in our house this year" - Happy 2014 for us!

I didn't realise that it has been over a month since i last updated! So glad Christmas and New Year are over! Far too much going on to keep up with updates on my blog.

The best part is we can say "Were moving into our brand new home this year!" BRING IT ON!

Ill give you a quick run down on the past month!

Things that made me smile!
- Brickwork started a few days before construction stopped for the Christmas break. They managed to do one little section on the back wall before taking off. It was awesome to see our bricks in real life though. And was loving what i saw too!

- Steve our SS rings to wish us Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy holiday with the family - what an awesome guy! Speaking to other EBH builders their SS's didn't ring them! so top points to Steve for taking the effort to do that.

- Steve rings after Christmas to say that brickie will be back 6th January to keep working on our house! Also wishes us Happy New Year! Plus letting me know roof is booked for 22nd January!  Getting closer now! So glad we didn't have to wait the 5 weeks that was stated in our contract where no action was too happen! in the end it was only a couple of weeks and we were so busy with Christmas that the time flew by really quickly.

Things that made me frown!
- Nothing " Oh Happy days"
